Vehicle Mechanic
A Canada Post fleet mechanic is responsible for the systematic inspection, maintenance and assigned repairs to a fleet of vehicles, and must be able to work with minimal supervision
The successful candidate will
• Perform maintenance, repairs, diagnosis and component replacement including but not limited to the following:
o Brake systems
o Chassis and body components
o Clutch, transmission, driveline and differential assemblies
o Engine, fuel, cooling and exhaust systems
o Starting, electrical, charging and communications systems
o Steering and suspension systems and wheels, hubs and tires
• Other maintenance facility activities including but not limited to:
o Parts ordering, receiving and stocking
o Taking calls, noting action required
• Use a computer to navigate through multiple reference, maintenance, parts and electronic diagnostic manuals
• Enter and maintain electronic information in order to record maintenance activities

Job requirements (Education and Work experience)
• Secondary school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of a technical training/apprenticeship program in motor vehicle mechanics and/or truck mechanics
• Valid Provincial or Inter-Provincial Automotive Service Technician (310S) and/or Truck and Coach Technician (310T) mechanic’s license
• Valid provincial driver’s license, with driver abstract that meets current corporate requirement
• Valid Internal Combustion Engine-Propane (ICE-P) and Ozone Depletion (ODP) license an asset
• Must be currently working in the trade
• Licensed to operate medium duty truck (5 ton) with air brakes is an asset
• Thorough knowledge of motor vehicle mechanics, diagnostic techniques, industry trends & regulations and fleet preventive maintenance programs
• Ability to diagnose problems and make recommendations for efficient repair
• Competent in use of automotive repair tools and equipment
• Demonstrated ability to work in a physically demanding environment
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to work shifts
Certification:
• Valid provincial or inter-provincial vehicle mechanics license
Other:
• Must hold valid provincial driver’s license
• Must provide a driver’s abstract dated within the last 30 days
• Must provide a copy of provincial or inter-provincial vehicle mechanics license
NOTE: If you reside in Ontario you will be required to provide a 3 year uncertified extended driver abstract with address
Experience:
• Must be currently in the field of automotive repair and maintenance
• Previous fleet repair and maintenance experience an asset

Work hours: Monday - Friday, 1000 - 1800
